| Israeli Association of Quarrying Industries |
The 18 members of this association represent the majority of quarries in Israel. The Association was established in order to promote and develop quarries in Israel. Activities include:
- Dealing with royalties paid to the Israel Lands Authority.
- Quarry Rehabilitation Fund – dealing with transfer of funds to the Ministry of Finance.
- Obligatory Tender Law – the government’s legal adviser has begun to issue tenders in respect of quarries that operated prior to enforcement of this law. This effectively means nationalization of all quarries that have been operating legitimately for decades, with investments of hundreds of millions of dollars. This can have harmful ramifications for the entire construction and infrastructure sectors.
- Ongoing contacts with the Standards Institution of Israel concerning compliance with quality standards.
- Ongoing contact with the Public Works Department (PWD) – participation by quarries in internal tenders, dealing with problems of overweight and overloading in supplying road-building materials.
- Dealing with the problem of mobile crushers (of the Ministry of Defense and non-ministry equipment) that result in unfair competition.
- Contact with the Ministry of Infrastructure on various issues, such as sand from the Rotem Plain, renewal of quarrying licenses legislation and new regulations relating to the Quarry Rehabilitation Fund and general re-examination of the authority vested in the controller of quarries.
- Building a conveyor in Gaza – a Steering Committee from the Association will be a partner to all discussions.
- Explosive materials – approval of prices after reductions set by the Price Controller, increasing the basket of products in accordance with quarries’ demands.
- Ministry of the Environment – ongoing activities in a number of areas, such as quarry fencing conditions, cancellation of personal orders that were demanded by the Ministry, presentation of a Master Plan for Dry Waste, etc.
